Pogo TV...

POGO... Most of you would have just seen a glimpse of this TV channel while scanning through the numerous channels available today. And many who know about the existence of this channel would term this as a channel only for kids. Of course, this channel is for kids and with its amazing variety of programs, it definitely is a great source of edutainment for today's stressed kids.

There are quite a few programs that even adults can enjoy, and Just for Laughs Gags and Takeshi's Castle are my pick amongst the lot.

Takeshi's Castle
It's a hilarious and totally surreal Japanese game show. There's no script (literally, except for the occasional rib-tickling commentary by Javed Jaffery), just lots of laughs as contestants try to conquer a series of challenging games. The contestants enjoy the challenges and it's a treat to watch them face each of these hilarious but physically challenging game with a smile on their faces.

Just for Laughs Gags
This is candid camera at its best... 30 minutes of non-stop laughter where the TV crew come out with innovative ideas to get the best reactions from people. There are many such programs aired by various channels which try to imitate, but end up as gimmicks. Unlike other programs where people lose their temper, this programme ensures that they end up smiling (most times, the smile is a sheepish one) before the camera once the trick is revealed.


I really enjoy watching these programs as it helps me relax after a day filled with hard-work, tension, and pressures in today's highly competitive world. Its really amazing that this channel can bring out so many programs that are content rich, thereby being entertaining and educating at the same time. Its high time that other channels took cue from this channel.
