Strikes, Frustrating ...
Strike - Mass refusal by employees to perform work due to certain grievances.
Strikes are really frustrating and become all the more when they affect the life of the common man. And today they have become a tool in the hands of people with vested interests who hold the entire industry/nation/economy at ransom.
The latest addition to the list is the one being carried out by the various unions of the SBI. The
grievance being insufficient pension. Pension is a means by which the employer expresses gratitude to his employees after their retirement for having served him loyally and thus tries to secure their future. But, there is no obligation on part of the employer to pay pension.
I really don't understand why people want to strike work and shirk from their present day responsibility? Are they not responsible for what happens today? Counting chickens before they actually hatch is not a good trend and the striking employees definitely don't seem top realize that.
The banking industry is the backbone of any economy and SBI being a premier banking institution in India should have ensured that the strike didn't happen in the first place, leave alone affect the common man. Who is now going to take the responsibility for the huge losses that have been incurred by various institutions because of this strike.
As I write this blog news trickles that the demands of the striking employees has been accepted by the government and the strike has been called of after crippling the economy for 7 days.
PS: I do support the idea strikes if the grievances are really genuine and compelling.
